Tinubu commissions 31.3 km Chinua Achebe Guzape Lot 11 road

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last of the series of projects to mark his one year in office, on Saturday commissioned a 31.3 km Guzape Lot 11 road, named after the renowned Nigerian Play writer Chinua Achebe.

President Tinubu said that commissioning of the Chinua Achebe road is an engineering feat, and a significant achievement and another milestone achievement for the administration.

He said, “This significant achievement, makes yet another milestone in our administration’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and living standards within the Federal Capital Territory and across our great country.”

The president described the creation of Guzape road as a demonstration of commitment to the service of the people of FCT.

“One year ago we embarked on the journey to retune, re-engineer, re-finance and release the Hope for all the years, particularly for Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.”

“The provision of comprehensive engineering infrastructure in Guzape district, is not a mere necessity. It’s a hope renewed.”

According to the president, the successful completion of the comprehensive engineering infrastructure in Guzape district lot 11, is not a mere necessity but a hope renewed.

Tinubu said, “Nyesom Wike, you have provided exceptional leadership at the trying time for the country. It was a very challenging time for us in the country. Until now, we are still re-tuning and re-jigging our financial system to bring prosperity and relief to the people of this country.”

The President further appealed the district head and FCT residents to always toll the option of dialogue instead of litigations to settle land disputes.

“To all of you here and the district head of Guzape. Litigation is not the answer, conversation is the answer. Development that is focused on the people for the economy prosperity and the benefits of a whole is what you reside in us.

Of what value is the land that is blocked by these high hill mountains and rocks that you can create access to which will provide drinkable water, Tinubu advised.

Earlier, the FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike stated that the Guzape road project job was awarded in 2003, under the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo.

“It is divided into two lots. Lot 1 was given to Dantata and Sawoe, while lot 11 was given to Gilmor.
Dantata and Sawoe has left site for long and so when we came back, we had to bring them back to discuss with them.”

“In 2013 it was awarded at 14 trillion , but when we assumed office in 2023, it was reversed to over N18 trillion.”

The FCT Minister thanked Mr. President for approving the financial arrangements for the success of the projects.
The Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud expressed her gratitude for the provision of infrastructures across the FCT, adding that the development of any city heavily lies the infrastructural development.
“I make bold to say, Wike is Working”, she added.

The FCDA Executive, Shehu Hadi explained that the Guzape Lot 11 district project which covers about 31.3 km, is one of the roads created out of necessity to provide services to the people.
Guzape covers over 1,070 hecters of land, and it is one of the urban free districts , Hadi explained.
