President Bola Tinubu, alongside former Nigerian leaders Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, attended the inauguration of Ghana’s new president, John Mahama, on Tuesday in Accra. The event drew a host of African dignitaries and marked a historic moment in Ghana’s political landscape.

Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president, returned to office, succeeding Nana Akufo-Addo. The ceremony also made history with the swearing-in of Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Ghana’s first female vice president.

In his address at the event, Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s strong support for Ghana and praised Mahama as a leader of “patriotic vision and substance.” He emphasized the importance of unity among African nations, stating, “Nigeria will always stand by Ghana in its journey toward progress and prosperity.”

In his inaugural speech, Mahama expressed gratitude for the presence of Tinubu and other dignitaries. He pledged to strengthen ties within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and to advance regional integration and development.

The event underscored the growing partnership between Ghana and Nigeria and offered a vision of unity and collaboration for the West African region.
