Tinubu Ministerial: Women group drums support for Mrs Agbasionwe for Education

Ahead ministerial nominees, a conglomerate of bodies of women of substance under the umbrella of Women Leadership Alliance (WLA), have drummed support for Chief Dr. (Mrs)/Augusta Ngozi Agbasionwe for the position of Minister of Education in the build up toward Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s ministerial appointment.

Dr. Agbasionwe who holds BA and Ms degrees in Education from Brooklyn College and City University, New York, from 1997 to 2000, was at one time nominated by the women bodies as running mate to Tinubu after primary elections in 2022, because of records of her achievements.

Mrs. Agbasionwe also bagged her Honorary Doctorate Award in 2002,

According to the women group leader, Hajiya Tahir mohammed, Dr. Agbasionwe, a philanthropist, should be given the chance to write her name in gold and make the women folk the proud of Nigerians the more.

As keen observers, Dr. Agbasionwe, the group noted, was among the women, strongly believed that 90 percent of women appointed to serve in political offices in Nigeria, right from the advent of this democratic dispensation, have performed excellently well, often times, to the admiration and even envy of their male counterparts.

This, according to the women group have made it imperative to beam searchlights on respectful, acceptable and productive women like Dr. Augusta Ngozi Agbasionwe in searching for who could fixed the education sector which is bedrock of any country’s genuine development.

Chief Dr. Mrs. Agbasionwe, a philanthropist, was among the first women to congratulated Tinubu ahead of his 29th May 2023 inauguration preparation, and predicted that there was going to be positive development and change in Nigeria under his regime.

In addition, “Mrs. Agbasionwe enjoyed a lots of patronage and supports from womenfolk owing to her life touching empowerment programme through Civil Society Organization activities”, adding that, she’s however a strong believer that power comes from God.

In the midst of greater support for her, Nigeria women group had, during primary elections 2023, set in motion in ensuring a collective decision to endorsed Chief Dr. Mrs. Agbasionwe as running mate and vice presidential candidate of the winning political party, based on global agitations.

A US based entrepreneur, Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Augusta Ngozi Agbasionwe was among the first diaspora woman who warmly congratulated Nigeria’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as Governor-elect in February after he was declared elected by INEC.

Born on the 17th of November, 1960, the Dr. of education, Chief Dr (Mrs) Augusta Ngozi Agbasionwe, who hails from Awkuzu/Nando, in Anambra State, has over the years, dedicated her life to the service of humanity.

Speaking in a recent interview, Dr Augusta N. Agbasionwe said, “I am a native of Awkuzu in Oyi local government area of Anambra State of Nigeria.

“I am married to Pharmacist Pius Agbasionwe of Nando, in Anambra East local government area of Anambra State, and I have six children. As a Nigerian, I am seeking a position that will enable me to utilize my versatility”, she said.

Mrs. Agbasionwe started her secondary school education at the teachers’ training College, Ogbunike, where she was trained as a qualified teacher and was awarded the teachers’ Grade 2 Certificate in 1981-1982.

Her quest for further education took her to the Anambra College of Education, Awka/Nsugbe, where she got the NCE between 1988 and 1992. Augusta traveled overseas to Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, for the Associate Degree in Conflict Resolution and Mediation, in 1996-1997.

“I also attended the Brooklyn College, City University of New York, and bagged a BA and MS in Education, from1997 to 2000. Dr Augusta Ngozi capped it all at the West Virginia State University where she bagged her Phd Honorary Award, in 2002.

On skills and some of her positive impacts on the Nigerian society, Dr Ngozi is also knowledgeable in the field of Customer Relationship Management, Team Building and Leadership, Strategic Planning, Operations and Organizational Effectiveness; Mission Fulfillment, Community Outreach and Advocacy.

In terms role model Mrs. Agbasionwe who in high spirit, could not hide her impression for Angela Merkel of Germany who stabilized the world, Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, who led her country out of civil war, as well as other strong powerful women, to mention but few, saying the list could go on and on continuously until there’s no longer space to write.
