In a significant shift, President Bola Tinubu’s administration has decided to move the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings from their traditional Wednesday slot to Mondays.
This decision was officially communicated by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following a recent FEC meeting.
Since the inauguration of President Tinubu’s cabinet in August, only two FEC meetings have been convened. The latest Monday meeting also featured the swearing-in of three newly screened ministers, appointed by the National Assembly.
Minister Idris clarified that under this administration, FEC meetings may not occur on a regular basis, particularly when there are no urgent or critical matters requiring discussion. This change contrasts with the practice during President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure when FEC meetings were consistently held on Wednesdays.
