Tinubu’s Soldiers Accused of Assaulting Policeman Over Wrong Parking

A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has filed a petition to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, alleging the assault of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Edet Inyang by unidentified Army personnel. The incident reportedly took place on December 9, 2023, near the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade in Asaba, Delta State.

Effiong, in a statement, shared videos and photos of ASP Inyang receiving treatment and detailed the events leading to the assault. He called on the Chief of Army Staff to identify and bring the culprits to justice, emphasizing the violation of ASP Inyang’s fundamental human rights.

The lawyer questioned the extreme response to an alleged wrong parking, emphasizing the need for accountability to prevent citizens’ rights from being brazenly abused. The assaulted police officer is currently undergoing medical treatment, with Effiong urging urgent action to address the matter.
