Tobi Bakre wins award for acting at ‘The Future Awards Africa’

In a stellar triumph, Tobi Bakre, renowned for his stint on the Big Brother Naija reality TV show in 2018, has bagged the coveted Best Actor award at ‘The Future Awards Africa.’ Bakre’s acting journey soared after his Big Brother Naija experience, establishing him as a prominent figure in the industry.

Expressing his gratitude online, Bakre credited his elder brother, Femi Bakre, who previously won a TFAA award, as his inspiration. He reminisced about hosting the Future Awards years ago and aspired to follow in his brother’s footsteps. “Big shout out to my brother @femibakre. You inspired this particular award. I hosted the Future Award years ago and you won that particular year. Didn’t know when or how. But I sure wanted to touch the hem of your garment,” he shared.

Bakre’s accolades include the Best Actor title at the AMVCA ceremony in May for his action star role in “Brotherhood.” His exceptional performances in films such as “Gangs of Lagos,” “The Blood Covenant,” and “Slum King” have solidified his reputation as a versatile and captivating actor. He is also set to be honored on the AFRIFF 2023 list for his remarkable role in “Gangs of Lagos.”

Among the esteemed winners of the night was Ife Olujuyigbe, recognized in the film category. Olujuyigbe, an acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker, has made notable contributions to the industry through her work on projects like the Red TV series “When Are We Getting Married,” “Something Like Gold,” “Obara’m,” “Ile Owo,” and “The Trade.”

The prestigious TFAA ceremony, held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, celebrated 25 outstanding winners across diverse categories, including social activism, business, and entertainment.
