In a harrowing incident in the Ruwandoruwa community of Maru Local Government Area in Zamfara State, armed bandits carried out a deadly attack resulting in the killing of a mobile policeman attached to the Maru Police Division. The assailants, in their brazen assault that occurred around 12:30 am on Monday, also abducted 15 individuals, including the wife of a local monarch.
Reports indicate that the bandits, upon entering the community, unleashed indiscriminate gunfire. The mobile policeman, attempting to defend the district head’s residence, tragically lost his life in the line of duty. The attackers, thwarted in their attempt to kidnap the district head who was absent, resorted to abducting his wife.
As of now, the bandits have not made any contact with the community for ransom regarding the abducted individuals. The Zamfara State Police Command has yet to provide a statement on the incident at the time of this report. The community is left grappling with the aftermath of this violent assault, as concerns rise over the safety and well-being of those taken captive by the bandits.
