Tragic End for Abducted Pastor in Kogi: Kidnappers Kill Despite N1m Ransom

By Milcah Tanimu

In a harrowing incident, Pastor David Musa of the Evangelical Church Winning All in Kogi State was killed by his abductors, even after his family paid a ransom of N1 million. The pastor, who was abducted on November 11, 2023, in Obajana, Kogi State, was tragically murdered on Tuesday.

According to Mary, a member of the church, the pastor had gone to his farm on the day of the abduction. When he did not return home, his wife raised the alarm, prompting church members and community residents to search for him. The kidnappers later contacted the family, initially demanding N20 million. Unable to raise the exorbitant amount, the church and family pleaded with the kidnappers, who eventually reduced the ransom to N1 million.

The kidnappers added a chilling condition for the ransom delivery, instructing the church to bring recharge cards, chicken, and alcoholic drinks along with the money. Two church members were sent to deliver the ransom and the requested items. Upon arrival at the kidnappers’ den, they found Pastor Musa alive. However, as he returned with the two church members, the kidnappers shot him, and he died on the spot.

The entire church and community are in mourning, with the news of the pastor’s murder announced on the church’s social media platform. The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation is underway. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, stated that those responsible for the killing will be arrested and prosecuted. The gruesome incident has heightened fear and concern among the congregation and the state at large.
