“Tragic Loss: Reverend’s Suicide After WhatsApp Scandal”

By  Milcah  Tanimu

A tragic incident has occurred in Zimbabwe, involving a Christian cleric of the United Methodist Church, Reverend Oscar Mukahanana, who reportedly took his own life after his extramarital affair became public on the church’s WhatsApp group.

Reverend Mukahanana, who served as the District Superintendent of the Harare East District, was involved in an affair with a female youth within the church. The situation took a devastating turn when an audio recording of their secret sexual encounter was leaked and shared on the church’s WhatsApp group.

In the leaked audio, Reverend Mukahanana discussed his wild excitement after meeting the lady and mentioned that they had an intimate session even during her menstrual cycle.

Following the leak, church members began sharing the conversation, leading to widespread mockery and ridicule directed at the District Superintendent over the adultery scandal. The situation left Reverend Mukahanana feeling humiliated and overwhelmed by shame.

Tragically, unable to withstand the public humiliation and embarrassment, he took his own life on Friday.

In response to the heartbreaking incident, the UMC Harare District issued a statement announcing the untimely death of Reverend Oscar Mukahanana and requested the church’s support for his grieving family during this difficult time.
