Troops Neutralise Terrorist Kingpin in Zamfara, Recover Arms

Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, achieved a major victory by neutralising a notorious terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu, in Zamfara State.

The operation, conducted over the weekend in Bamamu Village, Tsafe Local Government Area, also saw the recovery of critical arms, including one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, ammunition, and motorcycles.

Intelligence-Driven Ambushes

In a separate ambush at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, credible intelligence led to the elimination of more terrorists, with several sustaining fatal injuries.

Recovered items included:

  • 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
  • 4 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
  • 3 magazines
  • 3 motorcycles

Aerial Strikes on Terrorist Hideouts

The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma executed precise airstrikes on terrorist camps in Shinkafi LGA between December 30, 2024, and January 5, 2025. These strikes targeted gatherings led by terrorist leaders Bello Turji and Ibrahim Chumo, causing significant casualties and destroying hideouts.

Commitment to Regional Peace

Operation Fansan Yamma reaffirmed its commitment to neutralising terrorist threats and ensuring peace in the region. The Joint Task Force called for continued cooperation from the local community to support its mandate of securing lives and properties.

This successful operation is a significant step towards stabilising Zamfara State and its surrounding areas.
