Troops recover 517 Weapons from Criminal Elements.- Commander of task force

Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Major General Ibrahim Ali, and his team,the military force who are in charge of maintaining peace and order in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states,seized 517 small arms and light weapons.

Ali, on Thursday made this declaration in Jos, he said he handed over the weapons which comprised of 40 automatic and 477 locally- fabricated firearms to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (ACCSALW).

He further explained that the operation would continue to collaborate with relevant security agencies to reduce criminal attacks on individuals and community and also called on residents of the states to continue to support and cooperate with military and security agencies towards ending criminal activities in the communities; and also troops would be professional in discharge of their duties to protect lives and properties.

On receiving the arms,retired Major Gen Hamza Bature,the North Central Zonal Coordinator of ACCS ALW, thanked OPSH for it’s efforts at mopping up arms and urged the troops to intensify more efforts in that regard so as to make the society free of illicit weapons.
