*We’ll pursue matter to logical end – CAN vows

A 40-year-old Muslim man, Mal. Hassan Yahaya has reportedly lured a 25-year-old Christian lady, Grace Nahemiah to First ECWA Church, Gidan Waya, Jema’a LGA of Kaduna state and had canal knowledge of her.
Both of them have already been remanded in correctional centre in on charges based on defaming place of worship by the court in Kaduna.
Eyewitness account stated that the suspect, Mal. Yahaya who hailed from Katsina state has allegedly had canal knowledge of the of Grace Nehemiah on several occasions inside the Church.
According to the local, luck ran out of Mal. Yayaha in night of Thursday 29th June 2023, while he was allegedly caught in the act with the young lady, dragging her into the church, with an intention yet to be ascertained.
Confirming the incident to journalist on phone on Tuesday evening, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, Rev. John Joseph Hayab said, he quickly alerted security personnel to avert the situation when his attention was drawn to the illicit act.
“When my attention was drawn to the illicit act, l quickly alerted the security to avert a situation where somebody or a group of persons will take the law into their hands to cause a breach of the peace.
“We are in a state that is govern by law, and so, we are law abiding citizens and will ensure the full wrath of the law takes its cause on whoever that is found wanting.
“We will pursue the case to its logical conclusion by using legal means to ensure justice is done. This we are doing to ensure we understand ourselves through legal means so that whoever that is found wanting should face the music and serve as a deterrent to others with such evil intention to use it to cause confusion in the society”, he said.
He explained that the police was invited and the suspected man apprehended for proper interrogation and better understanding of the reason behind such act in a place of worship.
All efforts made to confirm the incident proved abortive as Kaduna police command spokesman DSP Muhammed Jalige could respond.
The number of spokesman ranged switched off, after several others efforts, CAN chairman however later confirmed that the duo of Mal. Yayaha and lady Nehemiah were later arrested by the police, taken to the court and remanded in prison custody till 2nd August for defaming place of worship after confessing to the crime.
