Governor’s Commitment to Security
Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the state’s security challenges. He emphasized that a one-size-fits-all solution would not work, and a more strategic, community-focused approach will be adopted.
Security Assessment Tour Across Kaduna
James Kanyip, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, provided details during a recent security assessment tour across the state. The tour is designed to directly engage with communities affected by insecurity and understand their unique challenges.
Hands-on Engagement with Local Communities
Kanyip explained that the initiative marks a shift from relying on second-hand reports to gathering firsthand information from local communities. The effort will begin with visits to Giwa and Igabi Local Government Areas.
“I want to engage directly with stakeholders to better understand the local security dynamics,” Kanyip said. “This is not about sitting behind a desk; it’s about actively involving myself in the communities.”
Collaboration with Local Leaders
The initiative includes engaging a variety of local leaders and community groups. These include local government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and women’s organizations.
Kanyip emphasized the importance of local leadership in fostering peace and stability. By working closely with these leaders, the state government aims to gather valuable insights to create tailored, effective solutions to security issues.
