US Election: ‘Not the Outcome We Hoped For’ – Obama

Must read

By Abigail Philip David

Former U.S. President Barack Obama has expressed disappointment over Donald Trump’s recent electoral victory, acknowledging it was “not the outcome we had hoped for” while underscoring the importance of a peaceful transfer of power.

Obama’s comments reflect a stark contrast to Trump’s refusal to concede to Joe Biden four years ago, which led to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters.

In a statement on Wednesday, Obama remarked, “This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for. But living in a democracy means understanding that our viewpoint won’t always prevail and accepting the peaceful transfer of power.”

He also praised Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, for their campaign efforts, despite their defeat. Obama described them as “two exceptional public servants who led a remarkable campaign.”
