Victony Reveals How a Car Accident Made His Parents Realize His Commitment to Music

By Milcah Tanimu

Nigerian artist Victony recently opened up about how his dedication to music became evident to his parents only after a serious car accident in 2021. Speaking on Sway’s Universe, Victony recounted how his parents were initially unaware of his deep commitment to music, which began as a mere hobby.

He explained that while his family knew he enjoyed music, they never expected him to pursue it seriously, especially since he excelled academically. It wasn’t until he entered university that his passion for music intensified. “Music was always a hobby, and although I loved it, my family didn’t think it would become my main focus,” Victony shared.

The turning point came after Victony survived a severe car crash in 2021 that left him in a coma for four days. The widespread support he received from fans during his hospital stay made his parents realize the significant impact and reach of his music career. “It was only after the accident that my parents understood the extent of my commitment. They were amazed by the outpouring of support and began to see the community I had built,” he revealed.

In the crash, which also tragically claimed one life and left three others injured, Victony was confined to a wheelchair for a year. This incident was a pivotal moment in his life, both personally and professionally.
