We are committed to ending insurgency–COAS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Attahiru Ibrahim has reiterated the presidency’s support and commitment of  the Nigerian Army’s efforts in no distant time,to bring to anl end the BokoHaram insurgency in the country

The Chief of Army Staff,COAS,Lt Gen.Attahiru Ibrahim,made the declaration in an interview with the media,after a meeting with the commanders and senior military officers of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) at the  Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

He said, his constant visits to OPERATION Lafiya Dole command headquarters,is meant to boost the morale of troops and to re-assure them of the Commander in Chief of the armed forces commitment to ensure that the efforts of the gallant officers in the fight against insurgency in the country can not be under rated.

According to him,”the essence is to reassure the troops of the president’s commitment to their welfare,to hear from the troops and their commanders. What do they have as issues. What they want us to discuss, pataining  logistics and equipment in the counter insurgency war”.

The COAS assured the troops that President Muhammadu Buhari would provide the resources needed to execute the counter insurgency war to its logical conclusion.

Reacting to the recent Boko Haram attacks on military formations in the North-East, the COAS said: “Well, in military operation, it is a duel. We have defeated Boko Haram severally. Despite the loss of some equipment, we were never defeated. I can assure you that we will overcome them no matter what happens”.

“We will take on Boko Haram decisively and we are committed to the focus of the entire operation which is the total elimination of Boko Haram insurgents from Nigeria”, Attahiru said.
