Former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has called for unity among northerners to address the region’s pressing challenges. Speaking to journalists at his residence in Sokoto, Bafarawa highlighted the importance of the newly formed Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative, a non-political, non-religious, and non-tribal organization aimed at tackling youth-related issues.
According to Bafarawa, the initiative provides a platform for collaboration among northerners, transcending tribal, religious, and political boundaries for the collective good of the region.
“The Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative is built on values of inclusivity and empowerment, focusing on education, skills training, and mentorship to create a generation of empowered citizens,” he explained.
Bafarawa emphasized the urgency of addressing insecurity in the region, which disproportionately affects the youth. He urged northern youths to take an active role in governance and development, noting that the initiative aims to provide them with the tools to lead effectively.
To ensure widespread impact, Bafarawa announced that offices for the organization would be established in all northern states. He expressed hope that the initiative’s success would inspire similar movements across Nigeria, sparking positive change nationwide.
The Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative seeks to foster unity and drive solutions to the region’s challenges, leveraging the energy and potential of its youth. As the movement gains traction, it is anticipated to serve as a model for addressing national issues through collective effort and inclusivity.
