The FCT Minister, Barr.Nyesom Wike has promised that the FCT Administration will provide tight security to support the hosting of the African Military Games coming up on 18th to 30th, November in Abuja.

Wike made this known on Friday in Abuja at the press briefing on the 2nd Africa Military Games with the Army Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, Chairman of LOC, Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, and President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa, Maj. Gen. Abudullahi Maikano.

He said, ” On the part of FCT, be sure that we are going to give all the necessary support and make sure that security is tight in the FCT.”

“Military is not only to go and fight a war. The military should also relax. The military have people who are boxers, who are good wrestlers, who are good footballers, and then try to relate to their colleagues.
It’s very, very key.”

“ We are already working with our sister security agencies, with the local organizing committee, adding, to ensure a hitch -free occasion.”

The FCT minister thanked the CDS, Musa, for giving Abuja the opportunity to be the chief host of the all important Military Games that involves many countries in Africa.

While emphasizing the great impact of the event on the image of the FCT and Nigeria, Wike said that the event will also attract over 3,000 people who will come to appreciate the fact that FCT , the capital city of Nigeria, is safe.

The Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa appreciated the FCT Minister, for his support to host the Military Games in Abuja.

He informed the minister that already they are finalising preparation for the games by ensuring the necessary infrastructure and logistics support are in place to host the prestigious event.

According to Gen. Musa, ” the
hosting of the All African games in Abuja is not only a testament of Nigeria’s commitment to promote peace and security in the region, but also an opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities as a host nation.”

“The games will provide an opportunity for our Armed Forces to compete at an international level and provide opportunities to exchange best practices with our counterparts from African countries; build lasting relationships that can contribute to security and stability of the continent.”

Hosting the games in Abuja will add significant benefits to the territory and the country at large in areas of economic and sport development, global recognition and national pride to Nigeria, Gen Musa noted.
