President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda to National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made on October 21, 2025, marking a new phase in Dr. Doro’s distinguished career of service and leadership.
Dr. Doro, known for his calm demeanor, eloquence, and moderate approach to politics, was officially screened and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on October 30, 2025. His screening, which lasted less than 30 minutes, was met with widespread approval from lawmakers who commended his credentials and leadership vision.
During his appearance before the Senate, Dr. Doro outlined his commitment to building an inclusive and transparent humanitarian ecosystem in Nigeria, emphasizing impartiality, accountability, and independence. His remarks earned applause from several senators, who unanimously asked him to “take a bow and leave” — a gesture of endorsement for his capacity and professionalism.
Across Plateau State and beyond, Dr. Doro’s appointment has been widely celebrated. Senator Simon Bako Lalong, APC leader in Plateau State, hailed the nomination as “a perfect match,” praising President Tinubu for recognizing a “patriotic and competent son of Plateau.” Lalong expressed confidence that Dr. Doro’s diverse professional background would enable him to contribute meaningfully to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Dr. Doro brings a wealth of experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and humanitarian service,” Lalong stated. “He is a round peg in a round hole who will advance the administration’s development vision.”
Similarly, Senator Istifanus Gyang congratulated Dr. Doro, describing him as “a visionary leader who will leverage his diaspora experience for national growth.” Former Senator Nora Ladi Daduut also lauded the appointment, calling it “well-deserved” and “a reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance.”
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State joined in the chorus of commendations, describing Dr. Doro’s appointment as “a fitting recognition of intellectual excellence, professional integrity, and commitment to humanitarian service.” In a statement signed by his Press Director, Bere Gyang, the governor expressed optimism that Doro’s multidisciplinary expertise — spanning Pharmacy, Law, and IT-driven business strategy — would drive impactful governance and reform.
Dr. Doro’s background further underscores his suitability for the ministerial role. Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, he has accumulated over two decades of experience in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria. He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice. He has worked as an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), gaining firsthand experience in patient care, policy implementation, and service management.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Doro has been active in youth mentorship and community development, advocating for education, leadership, and humanitarian empowerment. His appointment has been widely viewed as a continuation of his lifelong dedication to service.
A local elder from Bassa, Bulus Sati, described Dr. Doro as “a beacon of refined leadership and a disciplined steward,” adding that his appointment “reflects the values of integrity and humility instilled by his upbringing.”
With his confirmation complete, expectations remain high that Dr. Bernard Doro will contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
