Why I am leaving PDP- Abia gubernatorial aspirant

Must read

An Abia State Gubernatorial aspirant, Professor Gregory Ibe,has announced that he is formally leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

He said this on Sunday while addressing newsmen in his home town Achara Uturu, barely three weeks after declaring his aspiration to run for governorship on the platform of PDP on 9th of March.

The Professor, being a founding member, declared that his desire to run on the party’s ticket was hitched on an alleged agreement by the party elders that the slot would be zoned to his Abia North Senatorial District . Thus, he decided to resign his membership of PDP to protest against it’s ‘controversial’ zoning formula.

Ibe stated that, considering the role he played in nurturing and funding the party to becoming a dominant party in Abia,he finds it painful to exit the party.

Although,he said he expected the party to reward him with the governorship ticket for his financial support and donation of equipment to support health and educational programmes of PDP- led administration in the state.

He realized that the party did not want his immense experience and contact; and that PDP elders had an agreement to ensure power returned to Abia North in 2023.hence he urged the political class to rise against the style of foisting on the people a reluctant and unprepared Persons as governors.

Ibe therefore enjoined Abia residents to work a hitch -free electioneering, while urging the security agencies to continue to sustain security and peace in the state.
