Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, and her husband, singer Mr Eazi, have opened up about the challenges and disagreements they encountered while planning their weddings, explaining why they chose not to hold their court wedding in Nigeria.
Speaking on a podcast, the couple revealed that they organized three different wedding ceremonies across three countries within just three months—a process they described as intense and exhausting.
Temi explained that their original plan was to have a simple court wedding in Nigeria. However, they quickly realised that maintaining privacy would be difficult, as even a low-key civil ceremony could easily attract public attention.
Because of this, they reconsidered their plans. They also explored the option of inviting court officials to conduct the civil ceremony privately in their living room. While Temi liked the idea, Mr Eazi was uncomfortable with it, leading to further discussions and reconsideration.
The couple then looked at the possibility of holding the court wedding in the United Kingdom, but Temi said it did not feel personal enough for her. Eventually, they agreed on Monaco, which she described as a location that felt more meaningful and suitable for them.
Temi also admitted that she initially underestimated the complexity of getting married, believing it was simply a matter of deciding and signing documents, only to discover it involved extensive paperwork and coordination.
“Three weddings in three months is insane. If we went to the courthouse in Nigeria, it wouldn’t be as private as we wanted. I thought getting married was just deciding and signing papers. I didn’t know there was a mountain of administration,” she said.
The couple later held a private wedding ceremony at Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland.
