Wike commends quality of road projects linking regional environments across FCT

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has commended the quality of road projects linking regional environments across the nation’s capital.
Wike expressed his pleasure on Saturday after a tour around some bridge and road construction sites in Idu Industrial Area, Airport Expressway , Gwargwada and Rubochi ,Kuje regional communities.

Speaking to journalists, the minister said,” Well l have to commend the various contractors, Arab and Julius Berger with the bridge and road projects which is almost 85 percent ready and their commitment to handover by May.”
He said, ” The first site we went to is one of those sites that, by the grace of God it is almost 85% ready. The contractors are completely fit for their commitment to handover by May.
According to the minister, the last time he flagged off one of the rural roads, the contractors were not serious but from what I am seeing today, l am impressed by the level and quantity of work.
Wike said that, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, no project will be abandoned.

He said, ” We have always said that we would not allow any project to be abandoned. We have taken out priorities and some of these projects are also being included under the Statutory project of 2024 which will be presented to the National Assembly by Mr. President when he returns from Qatar.”

Speaking on turning Abuja city into a construction site, Wike emphasized that it is all about the Renewed Agenda of Mr. President.

He said, “so many people had lost hope and Mr. President said that there is no need to lose hope, we are here to rekindle your hope, bring back the hope.”

Furthermore, he noted, with the support that Mr. President has given us there is no need for us to begin to give excuses.

“I am not here to criticize anybody who was here before, mine is that the opportunity the president has given to me, let me utilize it and work for the people.
While referring to the need for citizens to pay taxes, the minister said, ” We are very dogged in terms of revenue generation and people can see that we are not just telling people to pay their taxes but to be used to development the area.”
“This is not the time when people pay tax, and it is not used, but now people can see what their money are being used for.”
The FCDA Executive Secretary, Engineer Shehu Hadi Ahmad , said that the FCT major roads regional under completion connects the city to regional and satellite environments.
Hadi explained that the 76 kilometre FCT 105 road is linking Idu Industrial area through the Airport Expressway, passes through Kuje down to Gwargwada to Rubochi Highway to Abaji to Nasarawa Toto.
