Wike inspects construction of Paikon – Kore, Gwagwalada market Roads

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike on Thursday inspected the 9 kilometer Paikon – Kore road and Gwagwalada market roads in Gwagwalada Area Council.

After inspection of the 9 kilometer Paikon – Kore Road, Wike said that the construction of the road is part of the government’s impact on touching all areas in the satellite towns, and not just in the city.

The FCT Minister said, ” It is the responsibility of every government to make promises, particularly under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President who has assured that the promises he made is to rekindle the hope of the people.”

Wike noted that the expression of joy on the faces of the people and those doing business in the community from Aguma – Palace to Market road and Paikon- Kore leading to Radio Nigeria road shows that there is a positive impact in the communities.

“So when there is a positive impact, the people will always rejoice and say that yes, we are feeling the presence of the government.”

“You can see how the residents have trooped out. So nobody who sees good things will not appreciate it, and you see that people are not complaining because they’ve never had any impact on the government.”

“They don’t even know what they’re talking is about the government. But now, they can feel, they can see that indeed, there is a government that is working for them to change their lives positively.”

The minister said that the road would not be delivered as expected by December because of the additional job of adding streetlights.

“So they’re saying that they may not meet up by December, but hopefully by the grace of God, by January, they’ll be able to meet up.”

“But what is important for now, is the road, and what is very basic for our farmers is to go to the farmi and bring their produce to the cities. So I think we are on top of it, and by the grace of God, we shall accomplish it.”

Wike further appreciated Area Council Chairmen for their support in ensuring the success of projects in rural communities.

He said, “The council chairmen are working in tandem with us. They are supporting whatever we are doing. I have seen where most of them have invited me to come and commission some of the projects which have been backed up on.”

We don’t expect them to cover this kind of magnitude of the project, because they don’t have such resources. But the main thing they are giving us, is support to carry out these projects without any protests from the people, the minister explained.
