Must read

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Ondo town, Ondo State, a middle-aged woman identified as Mrs. Tayelolu Solomon is on the run after allegedly killing her husband, Mr. Felix Solomon, by striking him with a pestle. The grim incident occurred on Saturday in the GRA area of Ondo town while the 67-year-old victim was asleep.

Prior to this unfortunate event, reports suggest that the couple had been embroiled in an ongoing dispute.

Ibukun Solomon, the son of the deceased and an eyewitness to the incident, recounted the horrifying event. He confirmed that his mother, in the midst of a heated argument with his father, allegedly attacked him with a pestle while he lay sleeping and subsequently fled the scene.

Ibukun narrated, “My mother killed my father with a pestle in my presence and took to her heels. She used the pestle to hit his head when he was asleep. Earlier on the fateful day, a minor argument had ensued between them that resulted in a fight. After the fight, my father went to lie on the chair, and my mother hit his head with the pestle. He became unconscious in the process and fell down from where he was sleeping. My mother used the pestle to hit my father’s head three times, and he later died. When my mother saw that my father was already unconscious, she hid the pestle at the back of our house and ran away. I alerted some of the residents, who rushed my father to the hospital. But he later died. His corpse has been deposited at the morgue. My mother had three children for my father, and I’m the last child.”

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, stated that the suspect is currently on the run but assured that they are actively pursuing her. She disclosed that the deceased was promptly taken to the hospital, where he tragically passed away.

This grim event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing conflicts through peaceful means and seeking professional help when tensions escalate.
