The Women in Mining Training Institute (WIMTI) will host its December 2024 edition under the theme “Entrepreneurship and Mining,” focusing on equipping women with strategies for success in mining and entrepreneurial ventures. The virtual event is scheduled for Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 4:00 PM WAT via Zoom.

In a statement issued by WIMTI Media Officer Abel Leonard on Wednesday, it was revealed that the event will feature two distinguished speakers: Engr. (Dr.) Janet Adeyemi, a prominent mining expert, and Dr. Badewa Adejuyigbe Williams, a leading advocate for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.

Engr. (Dr.) Janet Adeyemi will present on “Circular Economy in Mining: A Review of Best Practices and Case Studies from Around the World.” Her session will emphasize the significance of sustainability in mining and explore innovative approaches within circular economies.

“Mining practices must evolve to embrace sustainability. Circular economies offer opportunities to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and create lasting value,” Adeyemi stated in a pre-event announcement.

Dr. Badewa Adejuyigbe Williams will deliver a presentation titled “Breaking Barriers and Building Successful Entrepreneurial Ventures.” She will discuss strategies for overcoming challenges, building resilience, and leveraging opportunities in the mining and entrepreneurship sectors.

“Women must position themselves to break barriers and harness entrepreneurial tools for success in mining. Collaboration and innovation will drive progress,” Williams emphasized.

The WIMTI Class continues to provide a platform for professional women in mining to share knowledge, learn, and advance their careers. Organizers have encouraged interested participants to register in advance via this link.

The event promises to deliver valuable insights and strategies for inclusive growth and innovation within the mining sector.
