Days after the reported theft of Nigerian singer Mayorkun’s pricey diamond chain in Calabar, another twist has unfolded as one of the stolen pieces has been successfully recovered.
Mayorkun, expressing his frustration, had declared his intention to never perform in Calabar again after hoodlums reportedly made away with his multimillion-naira jewelry during his time in the city.
The incident sparked a range of reactions from colleagues, residents of the city, and Nigerians at large. Notably, musician Iyanya appealed to the culprits to return the stolen jewelry and promised a reward for their cooperation. Shortly after the initial theft was publicized, Iyanya took to his social media platform to announce the recovery of one of the stolen necklaces.
In a fortunate turn of events, Iyanya shared another update on Thursday, revealing that yet another piece of Mayorkun’s jewelry had been found and returned. He posted a video on his social media, showcasing the recovered jewelry.
Expressing his gratitude, Iyanya acknowledged the efforts of those involved in the recovery process and disclosed that the recovered pendant had been handed over to the Special Adviser, Events Management, Governor’s Office, Calabar, Hon. Effiong Ekpenyong.
Initially received by Duke Emmanuel at Hit FM Calabar, the pendant was later transferred to Hon. Effiong Ekpenyong. Iyanya expressed his appreciation to the people of Calabar for their cooperation and highlighted the commitment to maintaining peace and hospitality in Cross River State.
“Thank you to my Calabar people for doing what’s right. #Mayorkun’s second pendant has been found.
