The national leader of the Youths Association for Good Governance (YFG), Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider his decision regarding the appointment of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs. The YFG is advocating for a female candidate to be appointed to the role to ensure better performance and alignment with the ministry’s objectives.
In a press release issued in Kano, YFG described the appointment of a male minister as “unfair,” particularly at a time when women have demonstrated significant commitment to humanitarian work. The group stressed that having a female minister would better serve the vulnerable populations of Nigeria, including citizens of all genders.
“There is a need for Mr. President to consider a female candidate for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to uphold the ministry’s purpose and ensure the welfare of Nigeria’s most vulnerable citizens,” the statement read.
YFG further recommended the appointment of Dr. Hakeemah Adenike Tajousho, citing her long-standing dedication to assisting the less privileged. The association believes that her leadership would facilitate the successful implementation of the ministry’s programs, benefiting those in need across the country.
“On behalf of other youth associations from the six geopolitical zones, youth leaders, and democratic support groups, YFG appeals to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the appointment for the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry and select the competent and compassionate Dr. Hakeemah Adenike Tajousho as minister to ensure the effective execution of humanitarian projects under his administration,” the statement concluded.
