“Yhemolee bemoans brutal economic crisis as fuel prices soar, spending N640,000 monthly on fuel alone.”

By Daniel Edu

Yhemolee, the popular actor and singer, expressed his distress over the increasingly harsh economic conditions in the country. He lamented that the bustling streets of Lagos have now turned desolate due to the surge in fuel prices, which reached an alarming N612 per litre.

In light of the economic crisis, Yhemolee highlighted that even the wealthy are not spared from its impact. The Nigerian Naira has significantly depreciated against foreign currencies like the British Pounds and the United States Dollar in recent times, exacerbating the situation.

The actor shared his personal struggles, revealing that the escalating fuel costs have hindered the mobility of many Nigerians, affecting their ability to commute to work or manage their businesses effectively.

Taking to Instagram, Yhemolee conveyed his frustration, saying, “This administration is brutal. Even the affluent are shedding tears. Just yesterday, it took me only 15 minutes to travel from Oniru, VI [Victoria Island] to Lekki Camp, an almost Epe-bound distance. The roads were eerily empty on a working day. Can you believe fuel scarcity is the cause?”

He further divulged the exorbitant expenses he faces, disclosing that filling up his Range Rover amounts to N52,000, while his Chevrolet requires N32,000 worth of fuel. Consequently, he spends a staggering N160,000 each week on fuel, summing up to a jaw-dropping N640,000 per month.

Yhemolee’s poignant statement sheds light on the severity of the economic crisis and its profound impact on the daily lives of Nigerians, irrespective of their financial status.
