Zamfara police command arrests notorious bandit recovers 7 AK47

Zamfara state police command has succeeded in nabbing a notorious and one of the most wanted bandit namely Sani Tabi’u from Mada district of Gusau local government.

The state police commissioner Mr. Usman A. Belel disclosed this to the press in his office.

He said the arrest was made by his command in collaboration with the IGP’s X-squad attached to police special intervention deployed to the state by the Inspector General of Police.

Mr. Belel disclosed that the bandit was apprehended during the police routine market patrol along Gusau-Keta- Tsafe road in Tsafe local government.

He said the suspect, on sighting the team of the police squad, jumped off his motorcycle and took to his heels towards a nearby forest.

“The police run after him and arrested him with a bag containing 4 units of AK47 rifles and 4 empty magazines” he said, explaining further that on interrogation, the suspect confessed to being one of the gang leaders engaged in several bandits’ attacks and kidnap syndicates responsible for killing and kidnapping innocent people for ransom.

In a similar successful operation, the command has also arrested a suspected full timer informant to the armed bandits, namely Bala Magaji who was still in the police custody helping the command for further investigation.

The police commissioner also disclosed that his command has succeeded in foiling a bandits’ attack that could have been a horrible experience to Hayin Alhaji community of Tsafe local government.

He said after repelling the bandits, two live Rockets propeller grenades were recovered at the scene of the intended crime.

He enjoined members of the public to always join hands with the security agents in the current effort to rid the state of the lingering security challenge threatening the socio-economic existence of the citizens.
