Zamfara police command killed 104 bandits.

In its ongoing successful operation to rid Zamfara state of Banditry, the state police command has last Thursday killed 104 bandits and destroyed fifty of their hideouts.

The joint intervention force which carried out the onslaught has also recovered 500 cows and seventy-nine sheep, a development which has largely demoralized and incapacitated the force of the bandits.

According to a release signed by the spokesman of the command SP Shehu Muhammad, the Inspector-General of police has deployed to the state hundreds of police special forces, counter terrorism unit, additional mobile force and three surveillance Helicopters to coordinate the operation against the scourge of banditry in the state.

The release however said that one of the police personnel lost his life during the operation.

In another development, the
joint Police Operation team foiled an ambush attacks by the bandits at Mahanga Forest in Birnin Magaji local government area of the state.

It said the Team has also arrested more than Eighty-Five (85) suspects, recovered Twenty Seven (27) AK47 Rifles and Fifty-Two (52) locally fabricated rifles and other dangerous weapons, while Two Hundred and Sixty-Nine (269) Cattle, One Hundred and Nine (109) Sheep already handed over to their owners.
