APC move to boycott LGA Election in Taraba State

The All Progressive Congress APC in Taraba State have commence moves to stop the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) from conducting the forthcoming local government election fixed for 30th June 2020. Daybreaknews exclusively gathered.

The APC has recently written to Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr Philip Duwe seeking for the postponment of the election citing short notice given to them by the commission.

The commission however is yet to respond to the APC letter as at the time of filling this report.

According to the information available to Daybreaknews, the APC is making arrangements to approach the Court seeking for an injunction to stop the conduct of the election slated for Saturday June 30 2020.

Daybreaknews gathered that the APC haven’t conduct it’s primary election to fill in it’s candidates for the election. Meanwhile the ruling PDP has already conducted it’s primary election and is ready to forward the list of it’s candidates to (TSIEC).

As of the time of this report, the opposing APC leadership in the state is making all arrangements for a press conference today to officially states it’s position on its participation in the election.

According to a source within the APC realiably told Daybreaknews that perhaps Apc boycott or suspend it’s participation in the Local government election in the State for what it’s seems like lack of funding and poor preparation towards the election.

According to the State Chairman of TSIEC Dr Philip Duwe says that they are ready to conduct a free, fair and credible local government election in the state.

The chairman who spoke with Daybreaknews in Jalingo said the election process has since began from February 2020 but was later suspended because due to the covid 19 pandemic that resulted to lock down .

Dr Phillip said the commission has met with the leadership of political parties in the state and agreed that election will hold on the 30th of June 2020.

The chairman explained that the commission has put in place strict measures to observe all safety precautions against the spread of covid 19.
