Diseases you can contract from your barber’s clipper

You will agree with me that clippers in your barber shop is more or less public property. And different type of people walk in to have their hair cut and styled. Now,the thing is there are many people out there infected with different kind of diseases some of which your barber’s methylated spirit don’t really prevent. So it’s advisable you get your personal clipper because some viruses and bacteria are way too tough for methylated spirit.
Well, here are 5 deadly diseases you can contract from your barber’s clipper:

Hepatitis
During a microbiological test carried out on 151 clipper blades bought from barbers, 10 of those blades were carrying Hepatitis B.
Hepatitis B is a viral infection that damages the liver and 1.5 million cases are recorded per year in Nigeria. Out of those million cases, people have had the symptoms after one of their shaves.

HIV
This is quite likely to happen because it is contracted via blood contact and people do get cut by clipper blades during haircuts.
The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a deadly virus which affects the body’s immune system and eventually result to AIDS which is the point where the body’s immune system is damaged making the body vulnerable to diseases. There is no doubt that, considering the number of people using a single barber’s clipper, there is a high risk of contracting the disease.

Tinea capitis
Tinea capitis is a fungal infection of the scalp. It is less deadly than the other two Infections. It leads to permanent hair loss once the fungus penetrates deep into the skin. This disease can be spread through clippers, combs, brushes and even towel! Which is why it’s important you should not just get your personal clipper but sensitize your barber on the importance of antiviral sprays.

Folliculitis
Folliculitis is a staphylococcus aureus bacteria infection that causes the inflammation of the skin hair. Severe infection can also cause permanent hair loss.
Now you can contract folliculitis if a clipper used on an infected person was used on you.
The truth is there are many other scalp and blood related infections that can be contracted as a result of using your barber’s clipper. So inorder to safeguard your health, obtain your personal clipper. It’s worth it!
