The Side Effects of Smoking Colorado (Colos) Marijuana

Must read

Colorado, commonly known as “colos,” is a popular recreational drug on the streets of Nigeria. But what are the side effects of this synthetic marijuana?

Unlike natural marijuana strains such as sativa and indica, colos consists of shredded dry leaves or grass sprayed with harmful chemicals. These chemicals aim to mimic the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active compound in marijuana that produces a high.

What is in Colos?

Colos, also known as synthetic cannabis, is often sold in shiny, colorful packets labeled “not for human consumption.” It goes by various names, including Scooby Snax, Black Mamba, and Potpourri. Many youths opt for it because it is cheaper than natural marijuana and doesn’t show up in drug tests.

The exact chemicals used in synthetic marijuana are unknown and constantly changing. In most countries, including Nigeria, these chemicals are banned. Recreational drugs are illegal in Nigeria, and most colos consumed in the country are smuggled in illegally.

Side Effects of Colos

Dr. Adebayo Adekunle discussed the side effects of colos in an interview with ThisDay Live. Common side effects include:

– Anxiety
– Paranoia
– Psychosis
– Mood swings
– Hallucinations
– Elevated heart rate
– Vomiting

The effects are felt almost immediately after smoking. In severe cases, colos can lead to organ failure. Users may also exhibit aggressive behavior and engage in activities without awareness. In extreme situations, they might lose consciousness or experience seizures.
