100 Days in Office: Quaan-Pan Citizens Laud Council Chairman Hon. Christopher Manship for Developmental Strides

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The citizens of Quaan-Pan Local Government Area have commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Audu Manship (Wallat), for his remarkable achievements in education, human capital development, and social welfare during his first 100 days in office.

In a statement signed by Danaan Cletus Sylvanus, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Chairman, it was highlighted that Hon. Manship celebrated this milestone with numerous activities aimed at improving the lives of Quaan-Pan residents.

The celebration began with the award of scholarships to meritorious pupils from Science Primary School Doemak and Child-Care Nursery/Primary School Doemak, who represented the local government in a quiz and debate competition organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for Plateau Southern Zone schools. The Chairman congratulated the pupils and reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the education sector by providing better learning facilities in all government schools within Quaan-Pan.

Responding on behalf of the pupils, Swardong Hosiah expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his support and appealed for the provision of more learning materials for students.

Additionally, the Chairman awarded a scholarship to Lapfunaan Daza, a JSS 3 student of Fatima Girls Secondary School, Shendam, who represented Plateau State and emerged as the winner in a quiz competition organized by ANCOPSS in Makurdi, Benue State. Hon. Manship promised to support her as she represents the North Central zone in the upcoming national competition.

As part of his commitment to humanity, Hon. Manship visited the Nigeria Correctional Service Medium Security Custodial Centre in Shendam. He paid fines for 10 inmates convicted of minor offenses, resulting in their immediate release. He also donated two sewing machines to aid vocational training for inmates and provided cash support to improve their feeding.

The Chief Superintendent of the Correctional Service, Kassan L. Mentok, praised the Chairman’s gesture, noting the positive impact on inmates and the institution.

At the Quaan-Pan Local Government Council secretariat, Hon. Manship disbursed scholarships to Quaan-Pan indigenes who scored 250 and above in the 2024 JAMB examination, as well as to a PhD student from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). While presenting the awards, he encouraged the beneficiaries to excel in their studies and make the local government proud.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Elias Daduam Datoek, a PhD student from UNN, and Naankwat John expressed their gratitude, describing the scholarships as unprecedented in Quaan-Pan’s history.

The Chairman further empowered 60 small-scale business owners with financial support to enhance their ventures. One of the beneficiaries, Hamza Adamu Ibrahim, expressed appreciation for the inclusive governance, highlighting that he, as an APC member and Muslim, was recognized by a PDP-led administration. Joseph Wuyong, a person with a disability, also thanked the Chairman for his generosity.

Hon. Manship hosted a meeting with Quaan-Pan Local Government workforce unions, including NULGE, NUT, NASU, and others, to identify challenges and foster collaboration. The NULGE Chairman, Obadiah Ishaya, and the head of medical and health commended the Chairman for improving healthcare infrastructure and pledged their support.

The day concluded with a meeting with the management of the College of Art and Science Technology (CAST) Kurgwi, where Hon. Manship assured them of the government’s support in developing the institution. The CAST management presented an award of educational excellence to the Chairman, recognizing his contributions to the educational sector of Quaan-Pan.

The citizens of Quaan-Pan expressed pride in their Chairman’s leadership and commitment to development, hailing his first 100 days in office as transformative for the local government.
