Residents Discover Decomposing Body of Newborn in Ogun Community

Residents of Oyede Avenue Plaza in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State made a grim discovery on Sunday as they found the decomposing body of a newborn baby in their neighborhood.

A police source confirmed Online that the mother of the baby girl, identified as 21-year-old Esther Ojuko, allegedly killed her after giving birth, wrapping the baby in a sack, and discarding her in a nearby compound.

The exact age of the deceased baby at the time of the incident remains unverified.

The Ogun State police command suggested that Ojuko might have been mentally unbalanced during the commission of the crime.

Residents, alarmed by a foul stench in the area, initiated a search to identify the source, leading to the discovery of the decomposing body tightly wrapped in a sack behind a nearby compound.

Subsequently, a resident named Ogunmuyiwa reported the incident to the Sango-Ota Police Division.

Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the mother is in custody for suspected murder. A comprehensive investigation is underway, and the deceased baby has been taken to the Ifo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
