ATA 1–1 MIL: Match Review and Updated Serie A Table

Atalanta and AC Milan played out a fiercely contested 1–1 draw at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday evening, with neither side able to find a late breakthrough in an evenly balanced Serie A clash.

The Rossoneri made the perfect start, taking the lead within the opening five minutes. Samuele Ricci capitalised on a loose ball inside the area to fire Milan ahead, giving Stefano Pioli’s men early momentum and control.

Atalanta, however, responded strongly. Gradually growing into the game through quick, incisive passing, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side began to stretch Milan’s defensive structure. Their pressure was rewarded in the 35th minute when Ademola Lookman levelled the score with a composed finish following a slick exchange in the box.

Buoyed by the equaliser, Atalanta finished the first half as the more threatening side. Milan came out with renewed energy after the break, with Rafael Leão and Christian Pulisic driving their attacks down the flanks. Yet, despite their efforts, clear-cut chances remained scarce as Olivier Giroud found little space against Atalanta’s disciplined defence.

At the other end, Giorgio Scalvini and Berat Djimsiti anchored the hosts’ backline impressively, holding firm under late pressure. Atalanta also looked dangerous on the counter, forcing Mike Maignan into a crucial save to deny Lookman a potential winner.

In the end, both sides were forced to settle for a share of the points after an intense but evenly matched contest. The result extends Atalanta’s unbeaten run in Serie A, while Milan will be disappointed not to have built on their early lead.

Both teams now turn their attention to midweek fixtures, with the race for the top four in Serie A growing tighter with every round.
