2023 polls: Varsity directs students to vacate campus

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Lilian Salami, has directed all the students resident on campus to vacate the hostels latest at 12 noon on Wednesday (February 22), in order to be part of the forthcoming general elections.

The directive was contained in a press statement yesterday by the institution’s registrar, Mr. Ademola Bobola.

The registrar said: “In compliance with the directive of the Federal Government, as conveyed vide the circular from the National Universities Commission (NUC), dated 3rd February 2023, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Lilian I. Salami, has directed that the university be closed for academic activities between Wednesday, February 22 and Tuesday, March 14.

“Normal academic activities will resume on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The vice chancellor and the university’s management enjoin all students to conduct themselves peacefully during the period of the general elections, and wish them safe travels all through.”
