Oborevwori Thanks God Over Peaceful APC Primaries in Delta

By Anne Azuka
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on Tuesday expressed gratitude to God for what he described as a peaceful and successful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state.
Speaking during a morning devotion at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, the governor said he was thankful for the unity, stability, and support his administration has continued to receive from residents of the state.
Oborevwori said the thanksgiving service was organised to appreciate God for His faithfulness and for the peaceful atmosphere that characterised the APC primaries across Delta State.
“First, I want to thank God today for keeping us to this day. Thank God for all that He has done for us and for the show of love that Deltans have shown to this administration,” the governor said.
Quoting Psalm 100:4, Oborevwori noted that believers should always approach God with thanksgiving and praise.
“So, I have come here to return the glory to God who has made everything possible. No crisis, no fights, nothing. Everything went peacefully,” he stated.
The governor described the just-concluded primaries as one of the most peaceful in the state’s recent political history, adding that past experiences made the smooth process more significant.
“If you know what we went through in the 2022 primaries, we have every reason to thank God that everything went well,” he said.
Oborevwori also cautioned supporters against idolising political leaders, stressing that service should ultimately be directed toward God.
“You are not serving me, you are serving God. Salvation is personal,” he said.
He further encouraged citizens to remain grateful for life, good health, and divine blessings, noting that wealth without good health has little value.
The governor commended those involved in sustaining prayer activities at the Government House Chapel, particularly the regular Monday-to-Friday prayer sessions.
He added that the state government would hold its annual thanksgiving service on Friday as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office and to appreciate God for His guidance and blessings.

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna
The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has expressed support for recent comments by the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Muhammad Samaila Mera, on the need for communities to become more organised in response to insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping and terrorism.
In a statement issued in Kaduna and signed by its spokesman, Luka Binniyat, the forum said it shares the concerns raised by the traditional ruler regarding the security challenges affecting communities in parts of northern Nigeria.
According to the MBF, many communities across the Middle Belt and neighbouring regions have experienced significant human and economic losses as a result of violent attacks and criminal activities.
The forum said the Emir’s call for lawful community vigilance and collective efforts to enhance security should encourage wider discussions on community safety within the framework of the law.“ The Emir of Argungu’s intervention is a welcome development. It highlights the need for communities and stakeholders to work together in addressing security challenges,” the statement said.
The MBF also urged traditional rulers across the Middle Belt to engage with their communities on measures that can strengthen local resilience and support lawful security efforts. In addition, the forum called for greater cooperation between communities in the Middle Belt and other parts of northern Nigeria to promote security, economic development and peaceful coexistence.
The group said it plans to engage stakeholders from across the region and neighbouring communities with the aim of convening a security and political summit before 2027 to discuss shared challenges and possible solutions. The statement emphasized the need for dialogue, unity and collaboration in addressing insecurity and fostering long-term stability across affected areas.
