Over 2,000 Residents Benefit from Free Navy Medical Outreach in Bayelsa

More than 2,000 residents of Beletieama Community in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State received free medical services during a healthcare outreach organised by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO
The outreach formed part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary and provided beneficiaries with routine medical checkups, medications, health education, insecticide-treated mosquito nets and medicated glasses.
Beletieama is one of the three host communities of FOB FORMOSO, alongside Egweama and Liama.Speaking during the exercise, Commanding Officer of FOB FORMOSO, Captain Sunday Haruna, said the initiative was designed to improve access to healthcare while strengthening relations between the Navy and its host communities.“A healthy community is a resilient community. When people are healthy, they are better positioned to contribute to development and economic growth,” Haruna said.
He noted that the programme aligns with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to expand access to healthcare services in communities hosting naval formations.Haruna described the outreach as part of the Navy’s commitment to supporting the wellbeing of residents and promoting civil-military cooperation.
Community members welcomed the intervention. Chief Darius Amalanyo commended the range of medical services and medications provided, while Mrs. Grace Biolagha expressed appreciation to the Navy for selecting Beletieama for the outreach.

Nigerian Navy Commissions Jetty Waiting Room in Bayelsa Host Community

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO has commissioned a jetty waiting room in Liama Community, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as part of efforts to strengthen relations with host communities and improve public convenience. Liama is one of the three host communities of FOB FORMOSO, alongside Egweama and Beletieama.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Commanding Officer of FOB FORMOSO, Captain Sunday Haruna, said the project was initiated after community leaders and youths identified the need for a waiting shelter during his first official visit to Liama.
According to him, the facility will provide protection for travellers, especially during the rainy season, while they wait for boats at the jetty. “Look at the impact, not the size of the structure. We will always support the community whenever they call on us,” Haruna said while handing over the facility.
He explained that the project forms part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary and reflects the Navy’s commitment to supporting host communities through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Haruna added that the project aligns with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to promote stronger engagement between naval formations and their host communities. He noted that Liama plays an important role in the operations of FOB FORMOSO and pledged continued collaboration with the community.

Oborevwori Credits Three Years of Delta Development to God’s Grace, Prudent Resource Management

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has attributed the achievements of his administration over the past three years to God’s grace, wisdom and mercy, saying the state has delivered key development projects through prudent resource management.
Speaking at the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day in Asaba to mark his third anniversary in office, Oborevwori said the event was an opportunity to appreciate God for guiding his administration since he assumed office in May 2023.The governor said his administration had implemented people-focused programmes and executed major infrastructure projects aimed at improving living standards across the state.
According to him, the government has continued to meet its financial obligations and execute projects without resorting to borrowing. Oborevwori also expressed gratitude for the prevailing peace and security in Delta State, describing stability as essential for economic growth, investment and development.
He commended security agencies for their efforts in maintaining law and order and acknowledged the contributions of former governors, including Chief James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for laying foundations that support ongoing development.
The governor further thanked his deputy, members of the Delta State House of Assembly, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants and other stakeholders for their support.
In a sermon titled Ever Increasing Progress, Apostle Joshua Selman encouraged citizens to remain committed to faith, humility, knowledge and thanksgiving as pathways to sustainable growth and development. The event featured praise worship sessions and the ceremonial cutting of a cake to mark the administration’s third anniversary.

Riyom Council Chairman Commends Mutfwang’s Development Strides at Third Anniversary

The Executive Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa, has congratulated Caleb Mutfwang on his third anniversary in office, praising the administration’s development efforts and governance reforms across Plateau State.
In a statement issued on behalf of the council administration, legislative arm, traditional council and residents of Riyom Local Government Area, Shuwa described the governor’s three years in office as impactful and focused on improving the welfare of citizens.
He also congratulated Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Daniel Nanlong, members of the Assembly, and the people of Plateau State on the anniversary celebration and Nigeria’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule.
According to Shuwa, the completion of abandoned projects and the execution of new infrastructure projects across the state demonstrate the administration’s commitment to development and grassroots governance. “Your administration has rekindled hope, strengthened governance, promoted peace and accelerated grassroots development across Plateau State,” he stated.
The council chairman also described Mutfwang’s emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the party primaries as a reflection of public confidence in his leadership. Shuwa reaffirmed Riyom’s support for the administration and prayed for continued wisdom and strength for the governor.
