30 teams arrive for FEYSOC football tourney in Enugu — Coordinator

Lofty Uche, South-East Coordinator, Federation of Youths Soccer Clubs (FEYSOC), says no fewer than  30 teams have arrived Enugu for the 2021 FEYSOC Grassroots Football Tournament. Uche, who spoke with our correspondent in Enugu on Monday said that 80 teams from 36 states and FCT were expected for the tournament.He said that the screening of players in each team would commence on Tuesday, Aug. 24 inside Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.The coordinator said that the opening match of the tournament would be played on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021 at noon at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu. He said, ” This tournament is open to all grassroots football clubs across the country”. Uche said that teams from the South-South and South-East states make up the 30 teams that are already in the state as at Monday, Aug. 23, while other teams from other states in the country were still on their way. “We are going to make use of Abakpa Nike Grammer School. Enugu State Sports Council and Richard Primary School, Asata as the camp venues for the clubs,” he said.He urged the clubs’ managers to look after their players and crew to avoid violation of camp rules before, during and after the tournament.our correspondent reports that the Riverlane Sports Academy, Enugu,  won the Under-13 category of the last edition in 2018 before the outbreak of the COVID-19.Young Stars of Iva Valley, Enugu won the Under-18 category while Emmydon Academy of Owerri claimed the Under-16 trophy.
