Must read

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Monday dissolved the Tama Aondofa led management team of  Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi over abysmal performance.

The Governor made the dissolution at the Government House, Makurdi during a press conference, lamenting that  within one year the club has gone down the drain.

Ortom who spoke through the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Engr Benson Abounu, declared thus: ” Tama was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the club and in less than one year, Lobi Stars appears to be going down the drain. We have done everything possible to make the club rise again but to no avail”.

Continuing, he noted that ” we became disturbed when the club was placed on number 13th, the Governor who is the Proprietor of the club and myself summoned Tama, he promised that the club was going to rise again, but instead of rising we were going down, from 13th position, we moved to 14th position, from 14th to 17th and today we are on the 19th position on the league table, this is dangerous.”

The Governor who described the poor performance of team Lobi at the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, as embarrassing, pointed out that the club was at the top only for it to be relegated in three years.

He assured that Tama’s successor would be given free hand to put in place formidable team that will not only save the club from relegation but will also take Lobi Stars to higher height.

Meanwhile, the former Chairman of the Club, Mr Dominic Iorfa has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars by the Governor. The appointment is with immediate effect.

The Governor described Iorfa as an experienced football administrator. ” Iofa’s experience and knowledge of football administration will become useful in saving the club.”
