2027: I Have No Anointed Candidates, Says Kaduna Gov Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State says he has no preferred aspirant ahead of his party’s 2027 primaries and will not interfere in the process to produce candidates for elective offices.

Sani made the declaration on Tuesday during a Ramadan fast-breaking with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly in Kaduna. He urged aspirants to seek the support of party members rather than rely on political godfathers.

“I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries scheduled between April and May. I will abide by what the people decide,” he said, stressing that transparent and credible primaries are essential for party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor pledged full support for whoever emerges as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress in the state. However, he reaffirmed his backing for President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

Sani advised aggrieved aspirants to avoid anti-party activities, recalling that he remained loyal to the APC despite setbacks during a previous congress.

He also warned that opposition parties may exploit internal grievances and security concerns to weaken the APC but maintained that security in Kaduna has improved since he assumed office in 2023.

According to him, 535 schools and 85 health facilities previously shut due to insecurity have been reopened, while road projects in Birnin Gwari are ongoing.
