The Rector of Kogi state Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman on Thursday in Lokoja announced the formal admissions of 6, 216 students into the institution for the next academic session.
Dr. Usman who announced this at the matriculation ceremony held at the matriculation ground of the institution said out of this number 5, 229 of NDI and 987 HNDI were admitted into various programs across the seven schools in the Polytechnic.
The objectives of the annual academic tradition according to the Rector is to acquaint the new students with the fundamental principles of norms, culture and practice of the institution urging them to adequately explore the existing norms to excel in their respective academic engagements.
Dr. Salisu assured that adequate attention has been made for students to be accommodated in the institution’s hostels especially the security of lives and properties by the State Government which the Polytechnic has keyed into.
Ogbo who warned against cultism in the institution, reiterated that it is completely forbidden on campus that students who are deficient in character and learning would not be awarded certificates.
The Rector maintained that the Kogi State Polytechnic has zero tolerance for all forms of social vices such as gun running, examination malpractices, alcoholism, unhealthy social gatherings, cyber crimes, incitements to violence, gangsterism, misuse and destruction of school property and indecent dressing.
Dr. Salisu assured that while efforts is on to make the learning environment in the institution agreeable, said the institution expect nothing less in terms of responsible conduct and action from the matriculating students for their personal growth and development using the sound resources provided.
Dr. Salisu paid glowing tribute to Gov. Yahaya Bello for his commitment towards the
realization of his aspirations for quality education under a conducive teaching and learning environment.
