Corps members are key drivers of my administration’s policies – Gov Diri

The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has described corp members as key drivers of his administration’s policies in the health and educational sectors.

The Governor disclosed this at the passing out Parade of 2021 Batch “A” Stream II corps members held at the Armed Forces Remembrance Arcade in Yenagoa.

Diri who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Daniel Igali lauded the contributions of the scheme to national development stressing that the NYSC has continued to achieve its role as a unifying instrument of the Nigerian youth.

He urged the outgoing corps members to be good ambassadors of the State and desist from all forms of vices that will bring disrepute to their families.

State Coordinator of the NYSC in Bayelsa State, Mr Mohammed Adamu Jiya thanked the state government and other partners of the scheme for providing a conducive environment for the successful completion of the service year.

He lauded the impact of the 2021 Batch A Stream II corps members through their individual and group community development initiatives and urged them to replicate the ideals of the NYSC in their daily life.

Highlights of the programme was the declaration of the corps member of the Year, Idowu Dorcas Opeyemi BY/21A/1842 who used her Bag Making skills acquired during the SAED programme to make backpacks and distribute to 120 students in Yenagoa while a total of 29 corps members were sanctioned for various offences.
