Go Green Distribute 3000 Economic Seedlings To Journalists And Voluntary Organizations In Sokoto

Declaring the distribution of,the Executive Chairman Shehu Maikoli Foundation, Altine Shehu Kajiji said the seedlings are meant for plantation practicing journalists and Voluntary Organisations as part of tree plantation crusade by the GO GREEN PROJECT in the state.

Alhaji Altine Shehu who is also the founder and Executive Chairman Shehu Maikoli Foundation explained that though the Nigeria Union of Journalists Sokoto State Council is part of the partnership that born the GO GREEN Project but it’s important to distribute seedlings to it’s members for them to plant in their homes and farms being them role models in the society.

According to him,as partners in the project journalists supposed to led by example because the society solely rely on them on any program or policy that is good and beneficial to the humankind.

He said the project which was initiated by his humble self is expected to go beyond sokoto state next year as many individuals and international organizations have developed interest to contribute towards it expansion in consideration of it’s importance to ensuring eco friendly society.

Kajiji to this end urged journalists in the state to continue to do what is expected of them i.e informing and educating the general public on what is good to them and their immediate environment.

In their separate remarks the Project Manager GO GREEN Project Comrade Aliyu Abubakar Shehu and a Member of the implementation committee of the project from NUJ side Sirajo Dalhatu Sifawa said the project has recorded huge success as thousands of variety of economic and environmental tree seedlings have been distributed to communities while Orchard and Gardens were established in some selected primary and junior secondary schools in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board.

Highlight of the occasion held at NUJ Press Center along Zuru road sokoto was inauguration of the Debate and Essay Writing Competition Committee by the Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board.
