Taraba Monarch escaped assassination by unidentified gun men.

Third class paramount Chiefdom Haniel Hinlewheni Banti in jalingo Taraba state has escaped assassination by unidentified gun men.

The incidence which occurred on Thursday at about six minutes past one o’clock Pm in the morning at the Chief residence at Jauro Santi in Jalingo the state headquarters.

Narrating the ordeal, to Nigerian pilot, Hinlewheni Banti said the unidentified gun men numbering over thirty came to his residence to either assassinate,kidnapped or killed him.

The traditional ruler said one of his guard was shot on the leg when his security guards engaged the gun men who shot sporadically saying the guard shot was rushed to the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo who is now recuperating at the Palace.

The Royal Father stated that the spat of kidnapping is worrisome though a National phenomenon and called on Tarabans to support the peace efforts of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.

Hinlewheni, frowned at those conspiring to distort peace in the state and advised Tarabans to shun vices that are threat to peaceful coexistence and development.

Meanwhile at the palace of the Chief shell of bullets from the gun shot was glaring.

As at the time of filling this report our correspondent reports that the police authorities have been briefed of the incidence as security has also been beefed up in the area.

Kidnapping for ransome has become a recurrent decima in almost all states of the Federation an indication that citizens must play their part by ensuring that they give useful information to security operatives who are in turn expected to be proactive on dealing with security issues.

When contacted for a comment the Police spokesman in the state PPRO, ASP, David Misal confirmed the incidence and said security agencies are at the top gear to bring the perpetrators to book.
