Fuel shortage: Oborevwori urges marketers not to burden Deltans.

 

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has issued a warning to petroleum marketers in the state. He advises them against creating hardships for the residents of Delta State by engaging in activities such as hoarding and increasing the prices of petrol and other petroleum products.

According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr. Festus Ahon, the Governor expressed his concern. He stated that the State Government is committed to preventing petroleum marketers from taking advantage of the people of Delta State by artificially creating a shortage of fuel.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the government will not tolerate any filling station that engages in hoarding fuel or selling it at prices higher than the official rate. He assured the public that appropriate measures would be taken against such stations to ensure fairness and protect the interests of the people.Governor Sheriff Oborevwori acknowledged the response of petroleum marketers in Delta State to the reported removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu. He expressed his understanding of their concerns. However, he emphasized that the state government will not tolerate any actions that would bring hardship to the people of Delta State. The Governor made it clear that it is their priority to ensure that the residents are not burdened by fuel scarcity or any related issues.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori sought the support of all stakeholders in the state government’s efforts to improve the lives of the people of Delta State. He expressed his administration’s goal of growing the state’s economy through its MORE agenda.

The Governor revealed that the state government has received numerous reports of filling stations in the state hoarding petroleum products and creating an artificial shortage in order to increase prices. He criticized these actions by the marketers as unpatriotic and an economic attack on the people of Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori appealed to the marketers to act in the best interests of the public by selling their products at the official pump price. He also stated that relevant government agencies have been instructed to monitor the situation closely and ensure strict compliance with the directive.
