The Honourable Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission was honoured with an award at the Victory Dinner organized by Diaspora Support for Asiwaju (North America) Group , in recognition of her bold steps, unflinching support for the APC Presidential Cadidate , Bola Ahmed Tinubu now the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Against all odds, her humanitarian attributes, integrity, patriotism and for leading the first Igbo Group that emerged to support Asiwaju-Shettima , Omaluegwuoku Progressive Initiative, the initiators of Igbo Kwenu 4 Asiwaju-Shettima. The event which held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja witnessed the creme de la Creme of the political spheres.
The convener, Hon. Folashade Olumo , APC-USA Deputy National Women Leader in her remarks, said “We are diaspora support group that worked tirelessly for the mandate of Bola Ahmed Tinibu and Shettima and we are glad to celebrate the swearing-in which is a dream come true.
We also felt that this celebration will be incomplete if we do not recognize and award some persons who also played vital roles during the campaign, especially from the South East extraction where the risk was higher.
We use this opportunity to congratulate all of us and all Nigerians for a new dawn, as well as implore our leaders to please reward those who worked selflessly during the campaign ”.
Amb. Ginika Florence Tor-Ijeomah was honoured alongside personalities the organizers referred to as Heroes of Democracy which include Oba Francis Olushola Alao (Akinbola), the paramount ruler, Olugbon of Orile-Igbon Kingdom, OgbomosoZone , Dr. Betta Edu, APC National Women Leader, Haj. Zainab Ibrahim, APC Deputy National Women Leader, His Excellency, Dr. Yahaya Bello, Governor of Kogi State, H.E.Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State , H.E. Mall. Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai OFR, Fmr. Governor of Kaduna State , H.E. Rotimi Akeredolu, Governor of Ondo State, H.E Nyesom Wike CON ,fmr. Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. James Faleke, H.E.Adams Oshiomhole, Fmr. The only female aspirant in the race for speakership of the 10th Assembly , Rt. Hon. Miriam Onuoha who graced the occasion as a special guest of honour and Chief launcher of the DSA Magazine, in her remark, applauded the organizers for such remarkable gesture of reward to hard work and good service.
She stated that it is quite encouraging and that the major reward for hard work is more work, she therefore prayed that the new administration would endeavor to reward persons who worked hard during the election as well as fulfill their promises on gender inclusion and mainstreaming, as record has it that women played cognizance roles during the campaign till victory was actualized.
She thanked the President of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding her worthy to serve in the capacity of a Deputy Speaker in the forthcoming 10th Assembly, she concluded by saying that they have started with the right footing.
The delectable golden voice, Princess Atika Ajanah popularly referred to as MC Expensive in her speech, commended Amb. Ginika and her Igbo Kwenu group who stood out first as South easterners to take a bold step to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu even when it seems dangerous to do so, she said at some point she was afraid for Ginika’s safety but thank God for his divine protection over her and her group till victory is achieved.
Amb. Mrs. Ginika Florence Tor-Ijeomah appreciated the organizers for deeming her fit for such prestigious recognition and pledged her continued support to the new administration on renewed hope.
Ginika who is a native of Amoli Enyimba Community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, is a TV personality, a Media Entrepreneur, Brand Management expert with hands-on experience in income generation strategy and planning.
Mrs. Ginika Tor, contested for the position of Federal House of Representatives and later emerged as the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Enugu State on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress in 2019.
Ginika Tor is currently the Federal Commissioner Representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission, she was inaugurated on the 2nd of July 2020 by the then President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.
Amb. Ginika has undoubtedly and conspicuously contributed to the promotion of APC in Nigeria with huge demonstration of competence, reliability, credibility and capacity.
She has served at different time in the party activities such as member committee of APC state congress at Kebbi State, Kano State, Bi-Election at Kogi State, FCT Area Council Election 2022, Secretary of Contact and Mobilization Committee of the first ever APC Women Conference 2022 and Secretary APC National Convention Committee for Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities, member Youth Mobilization (South East)PCC and Deputy National Coordinator South , Special Duties/Social Project Committee, ICC to mention a few.
Amb. Ginika Florence Tor-Ijeomah was also recently among very few recognized heroes of democracy appointed to serve as member in the Presidential Inaugural Ball that held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa on the 29th of May, 2023, after the successful and peaceful swearing-in of the New Mr. President and Vice President.
