Governor Mohammed greenlights hiring 1,684 workers.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has granted approval for the recruitment of 1,684 individuals, including secondary school teachers, extension workers, and staff members of Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, which is owned by the state.During a briefing in Bauchi, the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna, informed journalists that Governor Mohammed had lifted the employment embargo in his inaugural address on May 29. Consequently, the governor granted approval for the recruitment of 1,684 individuals into the state civil service, including secondary school teachers, extension workers, and staff members of Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare. The Head of Service revealed that out of the 1,684 individuals slated for employment, a specific allocation of 1,000 positions has been approved for teachers specializing in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and ICT.Additionally, Alhaji Adamu stated that among the approved recruits, 150 personnel are designated for employment at Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare. Furthermore, the state Ministry of Agriculture is set to hire 206 extension workers and farm managers, in line with the Governor’s commitment made during the launch of the 2023 farming season and fertilizer sales event in Azare. He went on to express his appreciation to the Governor for granting the approval, emphasizing that it would not only ensure an adequate workforce in the relevant sectors but also contribute to the improvement of the state’s economic standing. However, Adamu issued a cautionary message to applicants, urging them to be vigilant and wary of fraudsters. He reassured them that the government, along with security agents, would closely monitor the recruitment process to identify and apprehend individuals attempting to exploit it for fraudulent purposes, safeguarding unsuspecting applicants.

In response to this development, the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) expressed its appreciation and support. The NLC commended Governor Mohammed for demonstrating his attentiveness by lifting the employment embargo in the state, and praised his commitment to reducing the unemployment rate.

The chairman of the state NLC, Comrade Dauda Maidara Shu’aibu, acknowledged that they had previously advised the Governor to prioritize the recruitment of additional personnel in crucial sectors, a suggestion made during Workers’ Day.
