Exciting English-born Nigerian winger Joseph Hungbo completes move from Watford to 1. FC Nurnberg

1. FC Nurnberg, a German 2.Bundesliga club, has officially announced the signing of Joseph Hungbo, a talented winger of English and Nigerian descent. The club made the announcement through their official website.

Hungbo’s transfer to Nurnberg marks the end of his four-year tenure with Watford, which he joined after being released by Crystal Palace.

The details of the transfer fee and the length of Hungbo’s contract with Nurnberg have not been disclosed by the club.

Interestingly, Hungbo is the second Nigerian player to be sold by Watford this month, following the move of Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost-Ekong to PAOK in Greece.

During his time at Watford, Hungbo made a total of seventeen appearances across various competitions, accumulating 487 minutes of playing time.

Notably, he showcased his skills during a loan spell at Ross County in the 2021-2022 season, scoring six goals in 33 games. One of his strikes even earned him the Goal of the Season award at the club.Joseph Hungbo, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Huddersfield Town in the second half of last season, has expressed his happiness in joining 1. FC Nurnberg. The 23-year-old winger revealed that he watched Nurnberg’s pre-season friendly against Arsenal, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Hungbo shared his excitement about experiencing football on the mainland for the first time and expressed his anticipation for what lies ahead in Nuremberg. He mentioned extensively researching his new club, including watching the Arsenal match live in the stadium. After conversations with his new coach and sporting director, Hungbo was thrilled with the opportunity.

Hungbo highlighted the strong appeal of 1. FC Nurnberg, their large fan base, and the impressive attendance of nearly 30,000 spectators at home games. He eagerly looks forward to playing in front of the passionate crowd.

Having started training with his new teammates, Hungbo is preparing for Nurnberg’s upcoming friendly match against Unterhaching.
